Scope: Replace and add two (2) decks and one (1) new storage area
Please be advised that the building plans for the above referenced project have been disapproved for the purposes of
obtaining a building permit. During a review of the plans by the Building Division for compliance with the applicable
building codes, it was found that the following information, clarifications, or changes are needed. Reviews by other
divisions, such as Planning, Engineering, or Fire, may result in additional comments that require attention beyond the
scope of this letter. Items that recur on this list appear in italics.
A complete review cannot be performed until the revised plans/documents, including a written response in
itemized letter format indicating where the `clouded' or otherwise highlighted changes can be found on the
revised plans, have been submitted to a Permit Coordinator.
Resubmittals must be made at the Development Services Department on the 2nd Floor of City Hall. Permit Center hours
are M, T, Th, & F from 8am-4:30pm and from 8:30am-12pm on Wednesdays.

1. Sheets S2.0, S2.1, S2.2, S3.0 and S3.lrequire clarifications/corrections.
2. The foundation for the remaining deck is not clearly identified on the plans. Provide details/ calculations
for the foundation for the deck.
3. The second storage appears to still be part of the scope of work for this project. Please correct/clarify/omit
this structure if it is still part of the scope of work to be done.
4. The foundation for the proposed deck appears to be still part of the proposed storage foundation. Is the
same foundation that is/was being used for the new storage area still being used for the deck that is still to
remain? Clarify/correct the foundation to the deck that is to remain as part of this project. Provide
corrections/details for the foundation to be constructed for portion of the deck that is affected with the
omission of the storage for this project.
5. Please omit the storage from this sheet if it is no longer part of the scope of work for this project.
6. Detail bug 3/S3.1 and 4/S3.1 shows that this is still a component of the omitted structure of this project.
Clarify/correct or omit this please.
7. Detail 7 shows that there is a wall being constructed/attached to the foundation. If this foundation is part of
the design please correct the detail so that it reflects the work that is being done.
8. Details 3 and 4? Please remove theses from the plans if is no longer part of the scope of work.
9. Detail 8 is called out on sheet 2.0. Please provide the detail that is missing on this sheet.
10. Detail 11. To meet section 1607.8.1.1 and 1607.8.1.2 of the 2015 IBC. Identify this on the plans so that the
proposed lattice screen meets the intent of the code.
Summary:
As noted in comments above the removal/omission of the second storage has affected the deck that appears to
be still part of the scope of work for this project. Please have the Engineer of record and Architect of record make the
corrections to the plans so that it is clear as to the foundation, beams, connection points, bearing points are addressed.
