Chair Report: • Tracy updated the board on the progress of the pamphlet telling the history of the Edmonds Cemetery. • Tracy also discussed the board member status. Ashley's work has relocated her to Germany as of the beginning of January. This relocation is to last about a year. Tracy will communicate with Ashley to see what her desire is pertaining to the cemetery board and if it's workable for her to continue being a board member. There are still 2 other positions open on the board, and Melissa knows of someone who might be interested. Staff Report: • Rich reported that there is a problem with junk being scattered around the cemetery near the border between the cemetery and the back of the thrift shop. The thrift shop stores a lot of donated items outside the back of their shop. Apparently, homeless people have been getting into these items at night and strewing them all over the place, including in the cemetery. Cliff has been working on getting the mess cleaned up. Rich will update the board on the progress of this clean up and of solving the issue. • Rich also reported that the letters marking the different sections of the columbarium last only 4 or 5 months and then fall off. He's contacted Quiring about installing something that will last much longer and look better. Rich told the board what Quiring can do and the approximate cost. • Rich is looking at seasonal staff for this year for the cemetery. Kyle may not be able to return this year as he now has a full time job. • Angie shared about the updated PROS (Parks, Recreation and Open Space) Plan, which will be completed soon. The expansion of the columbarium is part of this plan and will cost roughly $150,000.00. This expansion project should be pretty simple and straight forward. Some of the photos, etc., still need to have permission given to use in the pamphlet. Melissa, Tracy and Betty will put the finishing touches on the pamphlet and present this to the board at our February meeting. They will also have quotes by then from the Branding Iron on the costs of printing the pamphlet. Kerry will do the final proof read of the pamphlet - also before the February meeting. • Memorial Day 2022: We decided to plan as if we will be conducting the Memorial Day event in person this year. However, we will have to be flexible due to COVID. Melissa discussed about having a more collaborative effort with VFW Post 8870. She will contact their commander and see what their interests and ideas are. The board also discussed contacting the high school about music for the event and when to begin having extra monthly meetings to plan this event. • Walk Back In Time 2022: Betty will send us the stories of several Edmonds pioneers that we can choose from to feature for this year's event. These are stories that have not been seen before. New Business: • Board Members: It was discussed that we need to get some good candidates to join our board and fill the 2 open positions. Announcements: • Kerry announced that she will be out of state and therefore not present at this year's Memorial Day Event. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 5:09pm. Next Meeting: Our next regular board meeting will be on Zoom at 4pm, Thursday, February 17, 2022. Minutes submitted by Kerry Radley, Secretary
