Meeting Minutes
March 3, 2022
Mission of the CPC is to (7) Encourage citizens to be a part of the solution,
(2) Encourage City staff and citizens to conserve current resources, (3) Work
with the City Council to implement ideas, and (4) Effectively address the future
impacts of climate change
In Attendance via zoom video call / phone:

1. Call to Order, Review of Agenda, & Introductions:
2. Check -in:
a. February meeting minutes approved with three corrections: Hank Landau was
present at the meeting; Sarah Brinkley was elected as co-chair by a unanimous
vote; Extra c. under item #3 removed
b. PROS Plan email update
i. Email sent out and response received from Parks that they will be adding
an environmental chapter
c. CPC 2021 Report
i. Cynthia will send previous reports. Short report on last year and look
ahead
3. City Report
a. CPC member recruitment
i. Kernen will get press release issued for recruitment and will reach out to
CM Chen for recruitment. Encourage CPC members to help with recruit-
ment with groups identified in last month's minutes. Bryn will contact HS
students; Hank will contact ICA and Luke Distelhorst; Sue is working on
recruiting a young city employee
b. Shared folder demo
i. Kernen demonstrated the use of the shared folder
ii. He will add recruitment flyer to shared documents
c. CAP draft
i. Slowed progress
ii. Next round of public outreach pushed to April
iii. Targeted outreach on frontline communities and business/construction
industry
iv. CPC to help identify contacts for frontline communities
v. Sarah mentioned city cell phone recycling (possibly 50 phones)
4. Edmonds Climate Champions Project (Defining goal)
a. Discussion of a PowerPoint presentation
b. Challenge/action piece
c. Who is our target
d. Re -visit mission statement
e. There will be a stormwater presentation at the Watershed Festival scheduled for
May 14 @ the hatchery. Sarah attending, possible recruitment opportunity
5. City Council Report (Susan)
a. Wastewater Treatment Plant project
b. March 15t" public hearing on PROS Plan
c. March 22nd EV and bicycle parking public hearing
d. Tree Canopy Assessment presented to Council on March 1 — showed a slight in-
crease in canopy cover from 2015-2020
6. Meeting Recap and Next Month Agenda
a. Shoreline Climate Champions guest speaker — Cameron Reed
b. WSU will take CPC suggestions and give own
