Meeting called to order: 8:06am
Board Members/Administration in Attendance: Matt McCulloch, Cheryl Farrish, Kimberly
Koenig, Jen Lawson, Olivia Brown -Latham, Robert Boehlke, Beth Sanger, Ricky Bobadilla, and
Carrie Hulbert.
City of Edmonds Representative in Attendance: Susan McLaughlin
Guests: Liz Morgan (FIELD), Sheila Cloney (Anchor Chic), Whitney Popa (Workhorse HQ),
Nathaniel, Jill Hall (Bench and Board,) David Preston (Port of Edmonds.)
Election of New Officers: President: Kimberly Koenig, VP: Jen Lawson, Treasurer: Matt
McCulloch, Secretary: Beth Sanger. Online anonymous poll for each position.
City Report: Susan McLaughlin discussed the city's upcoming project to redefine streets and
public spaces. Wants to protect the most vulnerable users: walkers and bikers. Public spaces in
the right of way will be part of the discussion. Streets make up 77% of our public space in the
City of Edmonds. This project supports economic development, livability and fosters social
connections. Wants to redefine Walkable Main. Invited everyone to join the zoom meeting on
May 24t" to kick off the project - virtual town hall meeting with a purpose to redefine public
spaces. June meeting will determine a concept for the summer. Six neighborhood districts will
consider street closures and using parking lanes. Walkable Main should be scaled down.
Summer will be July -September. Willing to invest in design. The first meeting will be city-wide.
University of Washington will help evaluate the surveys. The current 15-minute parking zones
will be removed.
Approval of Previous Meeting's Minutes: Jen moved to approve the minutes. Cheryl
seconded. All approved, none opposed.
President's Report: Thanked new board members and Cheryl and Carrie for their leadership
and passion.
Treasurer's Report: Not available at time of meeting.
New Businesses Added to BID: None added. The city has just hired someone to fill position.
Oasis Tea and Paper Feather both have opened.
Committee Updates
Admin: Carrie presented. The admin team is meeting with task force in regard to
delinquencies.
Marketing: Carrie presented. Starting to work on Loving Summer campaign. Clings,
flags, scavenger hunt will be part of the campaign. Book shop is sponsoring Where is
Waldo. Considering a temporary mural and sidewalk decals. Jen moved to request
$4500 for the Summer Loving campaign. Olivia seconded the motion. No discussion. All
in favor and none opposed.
Communication and Outreach: Matt reviewed the annual survey results. Loving
Summer was well received. Love list not as positive, many did not know it was
happening. Courtesy umbrella program had a 76% approval rate. The umbrellas do
disappear and are considered marketing. After hours parking is still popular. Feature
articles had over 70% approval rating. Business spotlight at 77% is the most popular
category. 69% approval for social media. The BID primarily communicates to its
members via email and additional ideas and methods of communication are welcome.
Appearance & Environment: Cheryl presented. Ordering new umbrellas. Green will be
a bit different and are comparing colors. Loving Summer flags will be reused. Have
been using Localvore's poles and will continue to use these for one more season. City
has not given permission to use the pole holes in the sidewalk. Don't want to make an
investment yet. Updating the parking map. Mark is working on the design. Adding
electric decal to designate car charging and the paid lots.
