The position was advertised with an emphasis on a strong interest/background in literary arts to help support literary programs. Five applications were received and all five applicants were interviewed by a committee of the Arts Commission. The committee recommendation was approved at the full Arts Commission meeting on January 3, 2022. Staff Recommendation Interview Arts Commission candidate Harry Kirchner for appointment to Position #5, General, of the Arts Commission. Narrative Arts Commission candidate Harry Kirchner was recommended by the Arts Commission to Mayor Nelson as the best fit for the Commission at this time. Mayor Nelson interviewed Mr. Kirchner and is recommending his appointment to the Commission. Mr. Kirchner brings extensive experience in book sales, marketing and distribution, and work as a publisher and executive editor, in addition to his overall interest in performing and visual arts, arts education and cultural diversity.
