As of 1/1/17 Position 2 became available for a full term that runs until December 31, 2019. The position opening was advertised via local media, and previous applicants were also notified. Eight new applications were received. Three applicants were interviewed by the Commission at a special meeting on February 22, 2017. Pursuant to ECC 10.65.020(B), new appointments to the Diversity Commission shall be made by the seated Commissioners, subject to confirmation by the City Council. Staff Recommendation Interview Dean Olson for appointment to Position 2 of the Edmonds Diversity Commission for a term scheduled to expire 12/31/19 and forward confirmation to 2/28/17 Consent Agenda for approval. Narrative Of the new and previous applications received by the City for consideration to fill the open position, three applicants were interviewed by the Diversity Commissioners: Dean Olson, Sarah Mixson and Sonia Gilman. The Commission voted to appoint Dean Olson to Position 2 for a term scheduled to expire 12/31/19. (His application is attached here.)
