Background/History
Gillian lim and Greg Lange applied to be Commissioners on the Sister City Commission. After reviewing
their applications Mayor Earling interviewed both candidates.
Staff Recommendation
Recommending appointment of Gillian lim and Greg Lange to the Sister City Commission
Narrative
Gillian and Greg are both teachers in the Edmonds School District. Gillian teaches at Madrona K-8 school
and Greg teaches at Meadowdale High School.
Gillian has traveled to Japan, has family living there, and has experienced hosting a Japanese student.
Greg has also traveled to Japan, most recently as one of the Chaperones of the 2017 student exchange.
Both candidates have a great interest in Japan and Japanese culture.
The Commission currently has five open positions.

Why are you seeking this appointment? My fiend and colleague Karyn Heinskin has often talked about her Irlvotveiment with the Hekinon and the sisler city r r,rr1 nissinn
She has realty enjoyed working with the sister city commisslon and asked ma to apply. I have boon to Japan and have "family" in Tekyo, Hiroshima, Kyoto. I grew up wifh a foreign exckan, a +i udoni
Iron Japan who ended up moving in with us permanently and becoming ny'slster". I love Japanese culture and 1 have worked in Edmonds for 10 years. I would love to t:e a par of this commission.
What skills and knowledge do you have to meet the selection criteria? I took two years of Japanese in high school.
I have been to several prefectures in Japan and have a deep appreciation for the Japanese culture.
