Re: Vacancy on the Architectural Design Board
Dear Sirs:
I read with interest your announcement of a vacancy on the Architectural Design Board. We bought a
house in Edmonds in 2012. We have been working and living in China since 2009 and chose to buy a
house in Edmonds because we wanted to live in a beautiful place with a strong community.
Now that we will no longer be working in China, our attention is towards discovering and enjoying
Edmonds. Over the years, I have always chosen to volunteer some time in any community where we
were resident. Partly out of a sense of duty and partly because I am always concerned about the
physical environment, I am submitting my application to be on your design board so that I might be able
to contribute to making Edmonds the most attractive city that it can be.
Edmonds has the most beautiful natura I setting, and I believe that it is most important to be sensitive to
that existing environment in the design of alteration of any new or existing structures,
I am simultaneously applying for the available position on the Planning Board because I am equally
interested in planning issues and if you felt that I could make any contributions at all, I would be open to
being on either board.
Yours sincerely,

Letter of Interest
Re: Edmonds Art Commissioner opening 2O16
I am excited to apply for the Edmonds Art Commission. I can provide the group with
enthusiasm and knowledge to carry forward with the coming years and projects.
My characteristics include being a hard worker, and you can count on me to follow
through on commitments to completion. The arts are a passion for me.
l am a retired Librarian from Sno-Isle Libraries, and managed the Edmonds Library
the last 9 years of my working life. Edmonds has been my home since 1975. I raised
a family here, and have made so many connections over the years from family,
friends, work, community involvement and involvement in the arts.
As a librarian I worked with many groups, including the Art Commission, to further
arts and performance opportunities in the Library and beyond. I partnered with
Opera Previews, provided added music performances with many groups including
the Early Music Guild, plus scheduling music for events such as Open House at the
Library. It was a natural to work with local writers to offer space and support for
writing activities at the Library.
My undergraduate degree was in liberal arts, with a major in music theory and
composition. For many years I played the French Horn in local area music groups. I
later discovered the lever harp, and sold my horn to buy my own instrument more
than 15 years ago. I have shared music in our own community including playing for
some events at our Senior Center. I am a participant in two different harp circles, in
addition to joining in harp retreats twice a year.
I enjoy working in watercolor, particularly since my retirement last December. I
take classes, and am a regular participant at Art Works on Wednesday mornings
with a watercolor group. Recently I joined Seattle Co -Arts to network with other
area artists.
I am a big reader, and have had experience hosting author events at the Library in
addition to partnering for a Writers' Walk event in 2014. I attend book events,
author events, and look forward to all things literary.
I would like to give some time to our local Arts Commission to support and provid e
assistance to the Arts in Edmonds as an Art Commissioner.
