➢ We are the mayor's favorite Committee!
➢ We had to do some impromptu presenting, but it went well
➢ Takeaways for next year's presentation:
o We always get the same comments: that they love us
■ We could ask for some more feedback; we need material to build off of
■ We do get feedback throughout the year, which is helpful
➢ We got lots of praise from the Council
➢ Congratulations on the great work!
VI. PROJECTS WRAP UPS
➢ Potential project for next year:
o The leadership of boards and commissions in the city could have one big meeting
to discuss a collaborative project to benefit the city
➢ Before next year, we should share what work has been done (verbally and email) in the
committees so that people can pick up these projects for next year
o Committees, send email updates to Casey
➢ Environmental Committee update:
o The Earth Day clean-up went well! They have also made some Instagram posts.
➢ Diversity & Equity Committee
o They want to create Pride Month posts on Instagram

■ We will get in touch with Audrey about her work on the Youth Court
• Same and Audrey were planning on drafting a letter to Judge
Rivera; someone can pick this up later
■ There is no Youth Court that serves South Snohomish county; we could
make one that not only serves Edmonds, but rather this whole area
■ We need to get a proposal in the works right now before we go deeper
o We are making a guide to government for the youth
■ Brook has Instagram guides ready and a slides presentation ready; all the
research is done, we just need to figure out what to pull from Brook's
research
➢ Mental Health Committee
o No updates
➢ What we can get done before our term: work on some graphics!
o Pride Month
o Mental health outdoors benefits (to post after Pride Month)
o Tie up loose ends about Youth Court
➢ Continue writing the statement about gun legislation and our views on it
➢ Reaching out to other youth commissions:
o We currently have a list of Youth Commissions statewide; this would be a good
project to continue next year
o Building a statewide coalition would be great

Committee Check In; Finn seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

➢ Advertise at the outdoor movies in Edmonds

➢ Reserve the top floor of the library for a recruitment party
o Q and A to talk about what the Youth Commission is, what it does
o Provide pizza and snack
o We would need to make sure that the advertising looks nice and is inviting
o Around mid -September would be a good time to do this
o Past commissioners could even come and speak
