I. ROLL CALL & ABSENCES
Sam moved to call the meeting to order at 6:09 PM.
Sam read the land acknowledgment statement.
II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Sam made a motion to approve this week's agenda; no alterations. Seconded by Joelle. The
motion passed unanimously.
III. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES OF OCTOBER 12, 2022
Sam moved to approve the minutes. Seconded by Charlie. The motion passed unanimously.
IV. DVS Workshop
Domestic Violence Services presentation. Talk about what healthy and toxic relationships look
like, consent, and recognizing the signs of domestic violence. DVS is able to be a part of large
events, spreading awareness, etc. to the community.
Played true/false game defining and learning terms about DV and different types of
relationships.
Toxic does not equal abuse.
Entitlement to power by abuser triggers flawed value systems in victim
post -relationship; the most dangerous part of the abusive relationship.
Power and control are the root of all abusive relationships; all abusers are taking
advantage of their position over another person.
Jealousy is insecurity; not trusting your partner; can lead to control, but is usually
trust issues and insecurity of partners.
Physical intimacy is not proof of love; asexual people, different preferences,
mental confinements.
Everyone is responsible for their own emotions; it's not fair to make other people
feel responsible for your emotions; you shouldn't have to carry other people's
emotions.
Answer for friend in abusive relationship question:
If someone you know is in an abusive/unhealthy relationship is to let your friend's
recognize your support as a friend/family member. Reinforce to them that they deserve
respect and safety. If they disclose information to you, be non -judgmental and open.
Respect their decisions and lead in their situation. Let them come to their own
conclusion and healing process. Be an ally, let them take the lead, support them no
matter what. Use the resources on the DVS sheet given out in today's meeting.
V. Agenda Amendment
Sam motioned to remove video discussion from the agenda; passed unanimously.
Sam motioned to remove the youth polling discussion/planning segment of the meeting; passed
unanimously.
VI. Discuss/Create Instagram Post Calendar
Note from Casey: Everyone needs to be better about checking communication platforms!
