Interview Slate of New Applicants for Council Position #7 Vacancy (150 min) ADJOURNMENT: 5:00 PM Edmonds City Council Agenda October 14, 2022 Page 1 2.1 City Council Agenda Item Meeting Date: 10/14/2022 Interview Slate of New Applicants for Council Position #7 Vacancy Staff Lead: Council Department: City Council Preparer: Beckie Peterson Background/History The Council received 15 qualified applications for Council Position #7 Vacancy. At the 9/20/2022 meeting, Council decided to interview all new applicants between October 12 - 15. Applicants to this vacancy who also applied to Position #1 were interviewed on August 27 or 29. Those interview videos are available for review on the city website. Staff Recommendation N/A Narrative Interviews will be conducted virtually over Zoom. Each interview will be 25 minutes; applicants will have 3 minutes for opening and concluding comments, each councilmember will have 3 minutes to ask the same question to each applicant, follow-up questions are allowed within the time limit. The interviews will be conducted in the following order: 3:00 - Janelle Cass 3:30 - Mackey Guenther 4:00 - MayJane Goss 4:30 - Jeremy Steiner 5:00 - Jessie Upp The interview questions are the same questions that were asked in the interviews for Position #1: Councilmember Diane Buckshnis - What are your opinions about zoning? Councilmember Susan Paine - Last year, there was a lot of community engagement on Streateries, what is your opinion about Streateries and using city streets for non -vehicle purposes? Councilmember Vivian Olson - Council demands are significant year round (minimum 20 hours per week, many of us work much more), with the budget season immediately ahead (Oct and November) being the most demanding. Are you and your family (and your employer if you work another job) aware of the significant demands of the councilmember role, and are you and all other stakeholders for your time willing to make the sacrifices for you to perform well in the role?
