I. ROLL CALL & ABSENCES

Sam moved to call the meeting to order at 6:01 PM. Naomi read the land acknowledgment
statement.
II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Amend to discuss Charlie's topic (Sam motioned, then Joelle seconded)
The motion passed unanimously.
III. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES OF January 25th & February 8th
Sam moved to approve the minutes. Seconded by Joelle. The motion passed unanimously.
IV. PUBLIC COMMENT
Diversity Chair Elaine giving an open invitation for collaboration between the two
commissions. Mentioned the name of the diversity commission might be changed soon to
include more equity and inclusion language.
V. OVERVIEW & YOUTH ENGAGEMENT FOR CLIMATE ACTION PLAN 2023
City planners talked about the city in terms of climate change
Edmonds has not made much progress since 2010 plan
Front lined communities: communities historically uninvested in are more vulnerable to
climate change
Underrepresented communities give a good example for positive personal climate impact
Expanding existing and adding new EV charging stations are a main goal of the plan
Completely carbon neutral by 2050 for Edmonds with this Action plan and one in 2030 to
extend the policy
Sea level rise concerns
Imported emissions make up more than total by Edmonds
They took a video of the commissioners discussing climate change's impact on youth
Question segment went well, ran overtime.
Motion by Sam to decrease time on the agenda for the forum debrief and items for event

Thought all commissioners should have sat in on every discussion
Mental health discussion seemed to be important to many people
If we were to have another one, we need to have better advertising to youth for a better
turnout

Very Asian Foundation, Multicultural Association of Edmonds, commission has invited us to
a collaboration discussion on March 3rd from 4-4:30
Charlie is gathering more information so the association can contact the EYC through the
proper channels of communication
