COMMITTEE REPORTS
Registration Committee
Commissioner Raetzloff reported that the Registration Committee did not meet over the past month, and he does not know
the status of Commissioner Scott's effort to update and consolidate the spreadsheets of potential properties for the Register.
He said he has had some contact with representatives from the North Sound Church, but they have postponed any further
action until after their Easter services at the end of March. In addition, Vice Chair Waite is still working to gather more
information about the dams/weirs that were historically located at Yost Park.
Commissioner Eccleshall recalled that the owner of the oldest house in Edmonds (on 9"' Avenue) previously contacted Vice
Chair Waite to discuss the potential of adding his property to the Register. He said he has also had contact with an owner of
historic property on Main Street. He suggested the Registration Committee should follow up with these property owners.
Commissioner Raetzloff agreed to contact the owner of the Main Street property.
Education and Outreach Committee
Chair Vogel announced that the Edmonds Museum has invited him to provide a presentation on Edmonds History at their
annual tea. He said he plans to create a PowerPoint presentation tracing the history of Edmonds using images from the
museum. The Commission discussed that a copy of the presentation could be made available for other education and
outreach activities. It could also be accessible via the Commission's website.
Preservation Planning Committee
The Preservation Planning Committee did not have any activities to report.
Funding Committee
It was noted that no Commissioners have been assigned to serve on the Funding Committee. The Commission agreed to use
the remaining funds from the 2013 Calendar sales to fund the Historic Preservation Celebration in May.
There were no other reports.
NEW BUSINESS
The Preservationist
The Commission discussed ideas for the next edition of THE PRESERVATIONIST. They agreed to continue their discussion
at the next meeting.
Edmonds Expo
The Commission discussed the benefits of purchasing table space ($75) at the Edmonds Expo on June 1st at the Edmonds
Conference Center.
COMMISSIONER ECCLESHALL MOVED THAT THE COMMISSION PURCHASE A TABLE AT THE
EDMONDS EXPO ON JUNE 1, 2013. COMMISSIONER TAYS SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION
CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Commissioner Eccleshall agreed to work with staff to complete the registration requirements.
Edmonds Summer Market
The Commission discussed the value of participating in the Edmonds Summer Market. It was noted that while they had
some great conservations with property owners, none added their properties to the Register. The space was difficult to staff
last year, and there are now fewer Commissioners. They agreed not to purchase table space in 2013. However,
Commissioner Raetzloff indicated he could distribute information about Historic Preservation on the Saturdays he attends.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
2014 Calendar
The Commission agreed that the holidays and events identified on the 2013 calendar should be duplicated on the 2014
calendar. The Commissioners were invited to forward their additional comments and suggestions to Commissioner
Eccleshall as soon as possible, but no later than March 22 d. Mr. Chave reminded them that a draft of the calendar must be
submitted to the state by May 16th

Historic Preservation Celebration in May
The Commission discussed the idea of sponsoring a Historic Homes Tour. While they favored the idea, they acknowledged
that it would not be possible to organize the event by May to celebrate National Historic Preservation Month. They
expressed a desire to pursue the concept for 2014. Perhaps as a trial this year, they could set up a tour of a single historic
property in conjunction with another community event. Commissioner Tays agreed to contact the Washington State
Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation to obtain more specific information.
To recognize National Historic Preservation Month in May, the Commission agreed to attempt to complete at least one new
property for the Register and conduct a press event. It was noted that the North Sound Church's application is ready to move
forward, but the property cannot be added to the Register until the owner has given permission.
The Commission reappointed Commissioner Eccleshall to serve on the Registration Committee.
ACTION ITEMS
No action items were scheduled on the agenda.
HISTORIC PRESERVATION CHAIR COMMENTS
Chair Vogel said he visited several communities on a recent trip and returned with a renewed appreciation for the Edmonds
community.
