1. Sub -committees
a. What small committees can we do to help build our commission?
i. Outreach to our community to show what we do.
ii. Education
iii. Recruitment of Commissioners, Students and Adults
iv. Marketing -Business Card with QR code, Local business Promo
v. Social Media -updating, posting. Carolyn does the website.
1. How can we keep our social media updated and fresh?
vi. When recruiting and obtaining new members, it is important to:
1. Greet, reach out and meet the new members. Get to know them, and
welcome them.
2. Plan a current commissioner to do an orientation with them, to make
them feel more welcome and to help them understand what we do.
(This could be a 1-2-person committee)
2. It was suggested that we think of these sub -committees as Internal committee work and
External committee work. We broke into groups to decide what could go into each of these
two groups.
a. Internal:
i. Update the Commission Notebook-Karyn will look at this and then meet with
either Michele and/or Carolyn
ii. Commissioner Recruitment, we are down 4 members
iii. Ways to recruit new commissioners could be word of mouth, past
chaperones, skill based -what skill set can they share with us, past students,
awareness of commission during out conversations with people -more
organic.
iv. Can we pair up, or work with more people/organizations?
v. Try and get names of potential commissioners, send them a personal email
or note, invite them to an open house before one of our regular meetings.
vi. Update Commission Information/phone email page
b. External
i. Community Outreach -Summer Market, 2nd week of July. Have more
commissioners on hand. Also have different commissioners show up at
different city meetings representing the commission, and to give
presentations.
ii. Social Media- Facebook-New posts every 2 weeks
iii. Virtual Meetups w/Japan. We have had 2 very successful meetups. Perhaps a
new one next January -February 2024. We need someone to organize this.
iv. Student Education and Recruiting
v. Local business promotions
c. Sub committees will try and meet outside of our regularly scheduled meeting times,
to help move us forward in these areas.
