The Board Members shared a potluck dinner.

Carl Zapora, Superintendent of Verdant
Carl Zapora, Superintendent of Verdant (i.e., hospital district organization that owns the hospital in Edmonds and carries out
other healthcare roles) spoke to the group about Verdant's work and related hospital facilities. He noted that the hospital
campus is not likely to add any new construction, other than what's underway, for several years.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
Board members discussed factors that brought them to live in Edmonds and what they have learned about preparing for and
participating in Planning Board meetings.
Board members discussed interest in having a Planning Short Course, to which the public would also be invited.
Board members discussed issues of interest including: diverse housing needs, commercial development, and ways to help the
community understand and be engaged in city planning and development issues.
Board members also discussed interest in sometimes having study sessions on broader topics in place of standard meetings on
specific business.
PLANNING BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS
The question came up about why Firdale Village did not redevelop after the zoning had been changed?
