1. Approve/Amend Minutes: Samantha moved, Karyn 2nd to approve with no changes; unanimous
2. Approve/Amend Agenda: Colin moved, Samantha 2"d to approve with no changes; unanimous
Continued Business:
1. Community Fair
a. Approximately 30-40 visited the booth
b. Lots of interest in what Commission does and how to go to Japan
c. Questions: 1) How can we go to Japan 2) How often do adults go 3) When and how does
the student delegation work 5) how does the commission work 6) how was the adult
trip
d. Handed out eight commissioner applications
e. Families were excited to hear about the student exchange program
f. Need more student exchange photos
2. Edmonds delegation trip update to Council
a. Katy will present to City Council at 9/26 meeting. She has put together a PowerPoint for
the presentation.
b. Katy provided a overview of the spring delegation trip
3. Market booth on 10/14
a. Katy will take lead on this
b. Time is 9 am — 3 pm
c. Katy will be present for entire time. lyoko will provide coverage in the morning and
Karyn will provide coverage in the afternoon.
d. Goal will be to promote tentative 2024 student exchange
New Business:
1. Reviewed Commissioner notebooks
a. Possibly add more to sections 2 and 7
b. Provide a history of the Commission
c. Provide notes for: 1) visiting high schools for student recruitment 2) responsibilities at
booths
d. Asked newer Commissioners to offer suggestions about what they would like to have
added to the notebook
2. October Hekinan delegation visit
a. Review of itinerary
b. Commissioners were asked to provide Carolyn with dates/times/events they are
available to help and she will update the itinerary to include this information
c. All Commissioners were asked to attend the welcome reception, Halloween evening
dinner, and 35th anniversary reception if possible
d. Need Commissioners to host dinner for two or more Hekinan guests on Friday, 11/3. Let
Carolyn know if you are available to do so.
