Approval of 8/10 Meeting Minutes: Kimberly moved. Seconded by Joan Archer. All approved. Motion passes. Public Comment: Liz Morgan from FIELD asked how sales went over the weekend. Porchfest was very good for business. Car show is historically poor. Gallery North was really busy on Saturday. Difficult to find parking. Lots of positive comments. Camp Vintage had a good weekend, both days. Crow, Saturday was crazy busy and sales were great and was closed on Sunday. Liz asked for feedback via porchfest.com. Jen appreciated the Brouhaha going on with Porchfest. Carrie also mentioned Birdfest was happening this weekend. Venus asked if the stage and Astroturf could stay for Car Show. Liz explained it was too large to leave and still have cars navigate. Liz said this was the busiest Car Show she had ever seen. She said Ryan is hoping to incorporate more music into the event. Chamber is very pleased with the event. Emergency Preparedness to Build Small Business Resilience: Chuck Wallace presented - Emergency Preparedness for Small Business. What happens during an emergency and disaster? The state and federal government sends assistance. Emergency Management office has lots of information. Media coverage is not always helpful. Great Shake Out takes place on Oct 19 at 10:19am. An alarm will sound for 3 mins. Earthquake drill. Good opportunity to talk to staff about what to do. Where can people to go safely? When is it safe to return? Who do I contact? City website will have information. And all are welcome to contact Chuck. He recommends: to talk to attorney about how the title is held to your business. Talk to your insurance company every year. Get messages during an emergency via a text from Ed!, weather radio, AHAB siren, city website, opt into smart 911. Be sure to reenroll. Have an all -hazard radio. If you hear the AHAB radio go off, go to high ground. Will go off automatically. Midland and Recomm are two brands that he recommends. He also suggested reading the article from the University of Perdue about businesses grouping together to work through disasters. Kimberly will be sending out a document with additional information for the Great Shake out and emergency/disaster events. Saturday, Nov 4, disaster expo for South Snohomish County at a church in Lynnwood. President's Report: Jen presented. Thinking ahead to executive board and board members. Meetings are not a heavy lift. Please spread the news. Treasurer's Report: Jason presented. Doing well based on projections. Don't have numbers for August. $2,060 more than projections according to last report. Only under projected year to date by $100. Should have a good fund budget going into next year. Jen - $15,000 ear -marked for the way -finding signs. Carrie — approved the high-level budget and it will be submitted to council in October. Will send out one more time because next month will be the last time to modify. New Businesses in the BID: Ricky presented: Virtue Cellars, Lily Corley Bodywork. Shared office assessment policy is being reviewed. City Update: Todd presented. City's Comprehensive plans for the Growth Management Act are coming up. Economic development presentation in November. Elements and goals for the next 10 years. Marketing: Explore Edmonds has been launched. It is a destination branding program (brand and website.) Edmonds Chamber Update: Ryan said the Taste and Car Show both went well. Ramping up for Halloween. Lisa added that the Chamber has the Wish Foundation. If you need help financially, will help offset expenses by $1,000. Committee Updates • Admin: Jen nothing to report • Marketing: Carrie. Starting to discuss holiday. Ornament Stroll, trolley with Emily the Elf, and Drink Bingo. Ornament Stroll is being discussed, are there other ideas? Discussed puzzles, 3-D puzzles, scavenger hunt, puzzle pieces, custom Ed ornaments, raffle tickets. Approve Holiday Budget ($8,845) Olivia moved to move $8,845 for holiday budget. Kimberly seconded.
