5. April Webinar Preparation (20 minutes)
Event is on April 26. Space for two commissioners to speak and share about their
experience with EYC in a breakout room. Commissioners will be paid $250 for
participation. W9 would be required for participation. 4 commissioners were available.
To decide the two, various ideas were suggested. Further discussion in the coming week
was suggested to make the decision. EYC would have roughly 20 minutes during zoom
meeting. Cassidy suggested to mention the open positions for new commissioners during
the webinar.
6. Event Planning (25 minutes)
Earth day event is Saturday, April 20'. There will be cleanups on Bracketts and Marina
Beach. Event begins with safety briefing and giving out supplies. If any sharps are seen,
they need to be reported to the parks department for later pickup. All commissioners,
Casey, and Michelle will arrive to one of the two locations at 9:15 am. First community
members are likely to arrive at 9:45. Historically, the locations are cold. Once flyers for
the event are made, they can be shared on EYC social media. Commissioners will wear
their EYC sweatshirts, and vests could be a backup if forgotten.
Ivy Pull is May 181 at Pineridge Park. If ivy removal is not needed, other work could be
done at the park. Cleanup will follow format of the previous year.
Paws is interested in working with the commission. Event may occur next year with the
approval of newly appointed commissioners.
Game night/karaoke with senior center at beginning of next year that is hopefully after
the first EYC meeting of the year. Bingo, trivia, karaoke, charades, card games, and
other games were considered. Interactive group games were suggested because tabletop
games have variable end times. After the speed talking event, many attendees stated that
they would have preferred longer time periods to talk. Mid -October was suggested for
event date. First fully seated EYC meeting is October 9th. EYC meetings with returning
members will begin September 1 lth
Seminars by Monica D. They host workshops for communication and bridging gaps that
are similar to the EYC speed talking event. Further information was requested from the
organizers.
Mental health focused event with 988 was suggested that could be in partnership with the
Snohomish Center for Human Services.
Opportunity to honor youth contributions. Two sisters collected greatly needed bags for
Edmonds food bank.
Events for next year are senior game night and potential PAWS volunteering
opportunity. New commissioners can help decide future events.
