Roll Call & Absences (1 minute) OF ED40 YOUTH COMMISSION Y Charlie called meeting to order at 6:02. Commissioners present: Vivian, Joelle, Charlie, Lydia, Cassidy, Eemaan. Councilmembers present: Michelle 2. Approval of Agenda & Meeting Minutes (2 minutes) Charlie moved to approve meeting minutes. Seconded by Vivian. Charlie moved to approve agenda. Seconded by Lydia. 3. Public Comment (3 minutes per speaker) No members of the public present. 4. Community Transit Presentation Reflection (5 minutes) Discussed presentation and new information learned about transit. Charlie brought up Edmonds School District bus route program. Issue with registering ORCA cards was brought up. 5. April Webinar Preparation (20 minutes) Event is on April 26. Space for two commissioners to speak and share about their experience with EYC in a breakout room. Commissioners will be paid $250 for participation. W9 would be required for participation. 4 commissioners were available. To decide the two, various ideas were suggested. Further discussion in the coming week was suggested to make the decision. EYC would have roughly 20 minutes during zoom meeting. Cassidy suggested to mention the open positions for new commissioners during the webinar. 6. Event Planning (25 minutes) Earth day event is Saturday, April 20'. There will be cleanups on Bracketts and Marina Beach. Event begins with safety briefing and giving out supplies. If any sharps are seen, they need to be reported to the parks department for later pickup. All commissioners, Casey, and Michelle will arrive to one of the two locations at 9:15 am. First community members are likely to arrive at 9:45. Historically, the locations are cold. Once flyers for the event are made, they can be shared on EYC social media. Commissioners will wear their EYC sweatshirts, and vests could be a backup if forgotten. Ivy Pull is May 181 at Pineridge Park. If ivy removal is not needed, other work could be done at the park. Cleanup will follow format of the previous year. Paws is interested in working with the commission. Event may occur next year with the approval of newly appointed commissioners. Game night/karaoke with senior center at beginning of next year that is hopefully after the first EYC meeting of the year. Bingo, trivia, karaoke, charades, card games, and other games were considered. Interactive group games were suggested because tabletop games have variable end times. After the speed talking event, many attendees stated that they would have preferred longer time periods to talk. Mid -October was suggested for event date. First fully seated EYC meeting is October 9th. EYC meetings with returning members will begin September 1 lth Seminars by Monica D. They host workshops for communication and bridging gaps that are similar to the EYC speed talking event. Further information was requested from the organizers. Mental health focused event with 988 was suggested that could be in partnership with the Snohomish Center for Human Services. Opportunity to honor youth contributions. Two sisters collected greatly needed bags for Edmonds food bank. Events for next year are senior game night and potential PAWS volunteering opportunity. New commissioners can help decide future events. 7. Working on End of the Year Presentation/Instagram Posts (30 minutes) Added to draft. 8.
