Resolution 1240No. 1240 A Reso(ution Of The Edmonds City CounciCThan(ing Councifftesident Steve Oernheim forxis Service To The Edmonds City Council Whereas, Steve Bernheim has served as Council President from January to December 2010 and during his tenure as President was very well -organized in the preparation of the agenda, all the while attentive to citizens' and Council's suggestions and requests in scheduling of the agenda until the end of the year; and Whereas, Wr. Bernheim, during his term as Council President, had the unusual task of filling not only two Council vacancies but replacing former Mayor, Gary Haakenson. He did a commendable job in leading the interview process which included extra meetings with an abundance of candidates and then bringing the appointment process to fruition; and Whereas, Councif President Steve Bernheim, in addition to carrying out countless duties as Council President, worked diligently to bring a number of agenda items in front of the Council including: • Airing of Martin Luther King Jr DVD • Prohibiting certain uses of Polystyrene • Car -free parking day • Land use and building codes topics • Individual Councilmembers' vision statements • Financial Reporting Ordinance • Instituted bistro dining • Establishing fire proceeds fund • Green power purchase by City • Dark skies proposal • Wireless internet in Council Chambers • 2011 Edmonds State Legislative Agenda • Restored Council authority in title 20 • Permitting of wall murals • Reform of campaign contributions • Health care issues • Tree Board formation • Future of Sr. Center • Repairs to Carnegie Library Building • Expanded flexibility in homeless shelters • Renaming Edmonds Sno- Isle Library to Peggy Pritchard Olson Library all the while being supportive of the needs of not only Councilmembers but citizens as well. • Changes in marijuana laws • Purchase of Skipper's property • Opening more parks to leashed dogs • Long-range plans for future real estate acquisitions • Appeal process for dangerous dogs • Adopted Stormwater Comprehensive Plan 5Vow, Therefore, Be it Resolved, that Steve Bernheirn be commended and thanked for serving as Council President. The Council looks forward to his continued dedication and service to the citizens of Edmonds. Passed, Approved, and,4dopted this 4th day of 7anuary, 2011.
