Whereas, the City of Edmonds has partnered with Climate Solutions' New Energy Cities
program to create an action plan toward reducing our energy consumption, and

Whereas, the City • Edmonds has partnered with • environmental organizations such
as Cascade Land Conservancy, Sustainable Edmonds, Edmonds Community Solar Cooperative,
and
Whereas, the City of Edmonds has enacted a Sustainability Element to its Comprehensive
Plan, and
Whereas, the City of Edmonds has already taken great strides toward reducing energy
consumption as illustrated in the Energy Star award for City Hall, and
Whereas, the City • Edmonds has accepted President Obama's challenge to reduce •
municipal energy use by 20% by the year 2020, and
Whereas, reliance on oil leaves e city budge vu nera e o ras ic price uc u 5

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City • Edmonds continue its work
toward energy independence through policy, education, advocacy, and action.
