Resolution 111700006.90000 WSS/gjz 1 / 17/06 R:01 /26/05gjz RESOLUTION NO. 1117 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, EXPRESSING ITS SUPPORT FOR CERTAIN PROJECTS TO BE INCLUDED IN SOUND TRANSIT PHASE 2 (ST-2), SAID PROJECTS TO BE DESCRIBED HEREIN. WHEREAS, Sound Transit is in the process of completing , its study of and provision for certain improvements to the light rail system, including an extension of the light rail backbone into Snohomish County; and, WHEREAS, the sooner the light rail infrastructure and backbone are completed, the sooner South Snohomish County can begin to enjoy the many benefits of light rail including but not limited to economic development and transportation enhancement; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds wishes to state its support for certain elements of the ST-2 projects now under consideration, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Edmonds City Council hereby states its support for the following candidate projects, supporting and requests their inclusion for funding: 1.1 Project No. N 2 -- a planning study from Ash Way to Everett Station in Snohomish County for Link LRT, which identifies an I-5 alignment; 1.2 Project No. N 3 -- a preliminary engineering study from the King/Snohomish County line to Ash Way (Snohomish County) and Project No. N 5 -- a preliminary engineering study from Northgate to the King/Snohomish County line; {WSS623755.DOC;1/00006.900000/} - 1 - 1.3 Project No. N 6 -- a light rail project extension from the University of Washington Station to Northgate of the Link LRT; and 1.4 Project No. N 23, construction of a new permanent station at Edmonds Crossing for the Sound Commuter Train. Section 2. The City Council states its opposition to the funding of Project No. N 1, Light Rail - Link LRT: Everett Station to Everett Community College. Section 3. By its expression of support, the Edmonds City Council urges approval and funding of the referenced candidate projects in recognition of the many benefits which Edmonds and South Snohomish County will reap from inclusion in a light rail transportation system.
