Resolution 1231A Resolution Of The Edmonds City Council7hanking Councilman Dave Orvis forYfi� Service To The Edmonds City Council ,moo. 1231 Whereas, Vr. Dave OrviS was elected to the Council in November of 1999 and was sworn into office to fill Position #7 during the January 4, 2000 Edmonds City Council Meeting; and Whereas, 31r. OrViS resigned his position on the Council as of May 31, 2010; and Whereas, Councilman OrviS, during his 9 plus years on the Council, has sat on the following committees: Finance, Public Safety, CS/DS, Comprehensive Human Resources, Long -Range Task Force, Senior Center Long -Range Task Force, Downtown Parking, Edmonds Development Advisory, PFD Oversight, Edmonds Crossing Project, WRIA 8, and Lodging Tax Advisory. He also served as Council liaison to the Port of Edmond on the Edmonds Disability Board, and the Snohomish Health District Board; and Whereas, Wr OrV S has taken his position on the Council very seriously and has always been an advocate for the citizens of Edmonds. Throughout his three terms in office, he has proven a clever and able campaigner and successful campaign advisor to candidates; he has remained loyal to his principles, particularly those he, supportive constituents, and appreciative City Employees consider to be most important in maintaining, protecting, and preserving Edmonds as a great place to live, work, play and raise a family; all of his colleagues acknowledge and welcome his apt and easy -to -understand solutions to planning and development questions presented to the City Council for decision; his commitment over more than ten years never to serve as Edmonds City Council President manifests his wisdom; we admire his decision. to terminate his term of office in order to afford himself the time with his family; and we will all dearly miss his weekly, consistent, and dedicated service to the voters and residents of Edmonds. Now, Therefore, oe it ResofveCl, that Dave Or"Vis be commended and thanked for his countless hours of distinguished service during his term in office. The Council and Mayor wish Mr. Orvis every success in his and his family's future.
