RESOLUTION NO. 1089
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, FINDING THAT GOOD CAUSE
HAS BEEN SHOWN FOR THE WAIVER OF THE
APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR CERTAIN AMENDMENTS
TO THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN RELATING TO HISTORIC
PRESERVATION AND THE CONSIDERATION OF NEW
PLAN ELEMENTS RELATING TO PUBLIC SAFETY AND
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
WHEREAS, due to the City's desire to fully involve the public in a matter of
critical concern, that is, the appearance and character of the City's downtown commercial and
retail core, the City was unable to complete its Comprehensive Plan updates for 2004 until
March of 2005, and
WHEREAS, in that process, issues were raised by the City's Historic Preservation
Commission which were worthy of discussion but were too late to be considered for 2004, and
beyond the date for submittal of amendments for 2005, and
WHEREAS, other matters of primary concern to the community relating to the
preparation of adoption of Comprehensive Plan elements relating to public safety and economic
development were also put forward past the December 31, 2004 deadline for submittal, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the extension of the 2004 process
constitutes good cause to permit acceptance of these Council -deferred Comprehensive Plan
changes beyond the normal deadline for filing, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. The City Council hereby authorizes, for good cause shown, the
docketing of Comprehensive Plan changes relating to historic preservation as detailed in the
Council minutes for March 1, 2005, as well as referral for consideration of the preparation and
adoption of Comprehensive Plan elements relating to public safety and economic development.
These matters are hereby referred to the Comprehensive Plan update for 2005.
