A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDMONDS,WASHiNGTON, AFFIRMING A TIMELINE FOR
2009 LEVY ACTION AND SUSTAINABILITY AGENDA FOR
2009
WHEREAS, the City Council at its 2009 Retreat discussed the size, scope, and
plan for a 2009 Levy; and
WHEREAS, the Council determined there to develop a specific timeline for a
Council -led public engagement process which would give the public the fullest amount of input
feasible into the 2009 levy ahead of a levy package going to the voters; and
WHEREAS, the Council prioritized a specific set of action items it sought to
accomplish this year related to sustainability and environmental policy which could be achieved
by the end of the year without a significant expenditure of resources; now therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
The City Council affirms its commitment to the 2009 Levy Timeline and the 2009
Sustainability Agenda.

2009 City Council Sustainability Agenda
This agenda was developed at the 2009 Edmonds City Council Retreat. It outlines specific steps
that the City Council commits to accomplishing in the 2009 calendar year.
1. Pass the Sustainability Element of the Comprehensive Plan.
2. Develop a comprehensive recycling plan for the City of Edmonds, both as a corporate
actor and throughout the community
3. Development of a green "branded" identity of Edmonds, and the marketing of Edmonds
as green destination
4. Look at building codes as pertains to heat, insulation and energy efficiency
5. Consider the banning of the use of plastic bags in Edmonds
6. Become an "Agenda City" with Cascade Land Conservancy
