RESOLUTION NO.1013
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, CORRECTING LEGISLATIVE
FINDINGS ON RESOLUTION 1012 AND REQUESTING
ACCESS TO THE CARVED POLE FOR THE PURPOSE OF
PHOTOGRAPHING THE POLE.
WHEREAS, on November 5, 2001, the City Council passed Resolution No. 1012
declaring the carved pole surplus and calling for community proposals, and
WHEREAS, one of the legislative findings referenced contacts with the family of
the donating owner, and
WHEREAS, that reference was in error and rather, based upon the minutes of the
city's advisory panel and the Edmonds Arts Commission, should have referenced the family of
the original owners of the pole, now therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The .legislative findings of Resolution No. 1012 are hereby amended
and corrected to reference contacts with the family of the original owners of the pole, deleting
any reference to the donating family.
Section 2. The city staff has been unable to further process the City Council's
direction to surplus the pole and accept community proposals because access to the pole has been
denied by Syd Locke, the individual currently in possession of the pole.
The City Council reaffirms its willingness and intent to look at other options for
the disposition of the carved pole and requests access to the pole by Mr. Locke in order to

photograph it, or for copies of photographs sufficient to provide information to community
groups desirous of submitting proposals.
