WHEREAS, DAVID 0. EARLINEi was elected by the City Council to serve as City Council President from
January, 1997, to December, 1997; for the second consecutive year; and
WHEREAS, the MAYOR AND ALL COUNCILMEMBERS recognize and appreciate the superlative
leadership COUNCIL PRESIDENT EARLINEi brought to the Edmonds City Council during
his tenure; and
WHEREAS, COUNCIL PRESIDENT EARLINCZ executed his duties as Council President with quiet
authority, reasoned thought, concern for community values, and an invaluable sense of
humor; and
WHEREAS, MR. EARLINEi demonstrated his leadership abilities beyond the confines of the Council by
his dedicated service to the Regional Transit Authority (RTA); and
li(HEREAS, He has accomplished all of this while maintaining a united and positive relationship with his
fellow Councilmembers, representatives of many other municipalities and government
agencies; and
'WHEREAS, MR. EARLINE is a proud graduate of Washington State University; therefore, it seems fitting
that during his second consecutive term, which is an extraordinary occurrence, the Cougars
did something equally extraordinary as to go to the Rose Bowl for the first time in 67 years;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that DAVID 0. EARLIN6 be commended and thanked for his efforts as
Council President while looking forward to his continued participation as Councilmember.
