A RESOLUTION OF THE EDMONDS CITY COUNCIL DESIGNATING
COUNCILMEMBER JOHN NORDQUIST AS OFFICIAL CITY COUNCIL
REPRESENTATIVE TO EDMONDS' SISTER CITY, HEKINAN, JAPAN
WHEREAS, on April 5, 1988, the City of Edmonds and the City of Hekinan, Japan
endeavored to deepen mutual understanding and strengthen the ties of
friendship between the citizens of the two countries by means of
exchanges in the fields of education, the arts, sports, volunteer
organizations, government, business, and industry by signing a Sister City
Agreement; and
WHEREAS, Edmonds City Officials have planned a visit to Hekinan during the month
of July, 1998, to promote international communication and understanding
through exchanges of people, ideas, and culture; and
WHEREAS, COUNCILMEMBER JOHN NO,RD:QUIST is and has been a
distinguished and valued member of the City Council for over 30 years
and has an incomparable amount of historical knowledge of not only City
Council matters but also the City of Edmonds;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that JOHN NORDQUIST be appointed as the
Edmonds City Council Official Representative to our Sister City, Hekinan
Japan, during his scheduled visit in July, 1998.
