RESOLUTION NO. 921
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE
EDMONDS FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE AN
INCLEMENT WEATHER SERVICE VEHICLE, DECLARING
THE NEED FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE A MATTER OF
PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY, AND PERMITTING THE
FIRE DEPARTMENT TO UTILIZE AN EXPEDITED PUBLIC
BIDDING PROCEDURE
WHEREAS, the Council has determined that in past years, essential Fire
Department services were hampered by inclement weather, and,
WHEREAS, Snohomish County Emergency Management has issued warnings to
cities in the county that the approaching winter of 1998 -99 will be an especially harsh winter
with record accumulations of snow and inclement weather, and
WHEREAS, purchasing a fully equipped inclement weather vehicle through the
established public bidding procedures would prolong the City's ability to acquire the vehicle in
time for the impending inclement weather, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the need to purchase an inclement weather vehicle to permit
essential fire department services to reach citizens during inclement weather is a matter of public
health and safety.
Section 2. That the Fire Department is authorized to solicit bids through an
