Resolution 936fired A��� L- Where47, the City of Edmonds established a Sister City relationship with the City of Hekinan, Japan, in 1988 to 'steepen mutual understanding and strengthen the ties ofinendship between .the citizens of the two counfiJes by.uneans of exchanges in the fields of education, the arts, spoils, volunteer organizations, government, business, and industry , and cWhere", in July, 1998, in honor of the 1Oth Anniversary of the Edmonds /Hekinan Sister City relationship and of the 50i1t Anniversary of the City of Hekinan, a delegation from Edmonds was invited to participate in Hekinan's celebration activities, and the warm, generous hospitality of the people of Hekinan and the exchange of art and cultural traditions was an extraordinary experience; and C- 'lrerfa-f, during October 31 — November 5, we are extremely honored to have Mayor Ta;ku Nagashima and distinguished members of his delegation visiting Edmonds and we will share with them our rich tradition& vibrant cultural community, and friendly citizenry.
