A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE
FOR AN OUTDOOR RECREATION PROJECT TO THE INTERAGENCY
COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION.
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Edmonds has approved a "Comprehensive
Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban area which identified community and 1
neighborhood parks of the city; and,
WHEREAS, under the provisions of state and federal funding, assistance has been
authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the
construction of outdoor recreation facilities of local public bodies; and,
WHEREAS; the City Council of the City of Edmonds considers it in the public interest to
develop community and neighborhood parks in partnership with neighboring cities and to
the direct benefit of the City at a site generally located in the northern Perrinville area of
Edmonds.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Mayor, in partnership, with the City of Lynnwood, is hereby
authorized to make formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation for funding assistance.
Section 2. Any fund assistance so received shall be used in the joint partnership
development of Lynndale Park, a site of approximately thirty -seven (37 ) acres of
community public park lands adjacent to the City of Edmonds and located in the City of
Lynnwood, Washington.
Section 3. The City's share of the project will be derived from the City's real estate
excise tax. Funding will be considered and appropriation made in the 1997 and 1998
budgets.
Section 4. Any property developed with financial aid through the Interagency
Committee for Outdoor Recreation shall be placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility
and be retained in such use in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the
City Council, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, and any affected federal
agency.
Section 5. This resolution shall form part of a formal application to the Interagency
Committee for Outdoor Recreation.
Section 6. That adequate notification has been given and the opportunity provided for
public input and that published notices have identified affected flood plains and/or
wetland, if applicable.
