implementation of a countywide Public Safety Communications
system
WHEREAS, the ]Edmonds City Council, by ]resolution No. 838, initially supported the
placement of the Countywide 800 M]H[Z ]Public Safety Communications
System on the March 26, 1996, ballot, in the interest of safety for the
community at large;
WHEREAS, the ]Edmonds City Council has since learned the Communications System has
been placed on the March 26, x996, ballot under the title of ]Proposition No. i;
WHEREAS, ]Proposition No. 1 will implement and equip a Countywide ]Public Safety
Communication System at a cost of approximately $25; million, to be funded
through a property tax of not more than $o.o85 per $x,000 of assessed
valuation ($12.75 per year on a $150,000 house) for nine years; and
WHEREAS, It will take three years to engineer, build the infrastructure, and install the
equipment and could] be operational in 1999; and
WHEREAS, the Edmonds City Council still agrees an 800 MHZ Communication System
will improve the ability of our police and fire agencies to respond to public
safety emergency needs.
NOW, THEREFORE, Mayor Barbara S. Fahey and the ]Edmonds City Council wish to convey
to the citizens of ]Edmonds and Snohomish County th t hey en717? ally endorse the
