Resolution 7860006.90000 WSS /are 02/16/94 RESOLUTION NO. 786 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, STATING THE SUPPORT OF THE EDMONDS CITY COUNCIL FOR THE SOUTH COUNTY SENIOR CITIZEN BOARD'S APPLICATION TO SNOHOMISH COUNTY, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM FOR A SOCIAL SERVICE GRANT. WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds has worked with the South County Senior Citizens on a number of related facility planning and program studies, and WHEREAS, in southwest Snohomish County, the senior citizen population is growing at a steady and increasing rate - currently 14.8 percent of the population in Edmonds is over the age of 65 years, and WHEREAS, the need for senior citizen programs will continue to grow requiring enhancement and diversification, and WHEREAS, the South County Senior Citizen Board has discussed a wide range of possible options from a regional campus like facilities with a mix of housing, recreation and medical services to a smaller in town center, and WHEREAS, the ability to plan long range will require a study with consultant expertise in the provision of senior services and architectural planning and programming capabilities, and WHEREAS, such a plan will define the South County Senior Center's mission, the long term goals and role within the spectrum of other services, now, therefore, 67951.1 -1- THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Edmonds City Council hereby states its support for the South County Senior Citizen Board's application to the Community Development Block Grant Program for a social service grant to develop a "long range development strategy and short range action plan."
