A RESOLUTION OF THE EDMONDS CITY COUNCIL
COMMENDING THE "FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY"
WHEREAS, THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY was organized and incorporated in March
of 1979 with just a few hardworking people attending meetings, and
has grown to approximately 140 hardworking individuals today; and
WHEREAS, THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY was instrumental in getting the "facts
out" to the citizenry which resulted in the building of a new
library in 1982; and FRIENDS have become a vital link in the chain
which makes a strong and well -used library, and;
WHEREAS, THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY are hard working, diligent and faithful
members who provide services and extra equipment not budgeted by
the Sno -Isle Library System or the City of Edmonds, therefore,
increasing amenities for patrons of the library. Such amenities
provided by "FRIENDS" over the years include furniture, shelving,
aquarium, computer equipment and photo copy machine, and;
WHEREAS, THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY provide continuing funding which makes
it possible to provide our children with wonderful programs as
well as providing the library patrons with movies, speakers and
other programs such as the very successful "Author's Tea ".
NOW, THEREFORE, the Edmonds City Council and Mayor publicly acknowledges
and thanks "FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY' for their hard work and their
great contributions to the citizens of Edmonds and the patrons of
'the library. The. City of Edmonds is fortunate to have "FRIENDS OF
THE LIBRARY ", and officially commends them for their distinguished.
