A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE EDMONDS- WOODWAY HIGH SCHOOL BAND
WHEREAS, both the Edmonds High School Band and the Woodway High School Band have had a distinguished history
of performances as marching and concert bands; and have received honors and first -place awards for their high - caliber
musicianship and fine marching ability; and
WHEREAS, the bands have performed nation -wide and in Canada under the direction of Bruce Caldwell and Jim Kovach
in events such as World's Fairs and Expositions, Seattle Seafair Torchlight Parades, Lilac Festivals, Daffodil Parades,
and, in 1973, the Presidential Inaugural Parade; and
WHEREAS, in 1990, the two bands merged together to form the Edmonds - Woodway High School Band; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Edmonds, along with others, submitted letters of recommendation to the Presidential
Inaugural Committee requesting the Edmonds - Woodway High School Band represent the City of Edmonds, Edmonds
School District #15, and the State of Washington in the Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C. on January 20, 1993; and
WHEREAS, on December 14, the Edmonds - Woodway Band received an official invitation to participate in this history-
making event as one of 24 bands selected throughout the United States to march past the Presidential Reviewing Stand
on Pennsylvania Avenue;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mayor and the City Council of Edmonds wish to recognize and
congratulate theE,dmonds- Woodway High School Band for having the distinction and reputation to receive this honor.

BE IT FURTHER- RESOLVED THAT the City of Edmonds is proud to be represented by the Edmonds - Woodway High
School Band in this national, historical event. We wish the Band success and encourage the citizens and businesses of
our community to support its fund - raising efforts.
