A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR
AN OUTDOOR RECREATION PROJECT TO THE INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR
OUTDOOR RECREATION.
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Edmonds has approved a
"Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban area which
identified open space on the waterfront of the city; and,
WHEREAS, under the provisions of state and federal funding,
assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing
the cost of land for parks and the construction of outdoor recreational
facilities of local public bodies; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds considers it in the
public interest to acquire waterfront of the City generally located on
Railroad Avenue bordering Puget Sound.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized to make formal
application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for
funding assistance.
Section 2. Any fund assistance so received shall be used in the
acquisition of a site of approximately two (2) acres of open space land
of the City of Edmonds, Washington.
Section 3. The City's share of the project will be derived from
the City's real estate excise tax. Funding will be considered and
appropriation made by amendment to the 1992 budget.
Section 4. Any property acquired with financial aid through the
Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation shall be placed in use as
an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such use in
perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the City
Council, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, and any
affected federal agency.,
Section 5. This resolution shall form part of a formal
application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation.
Section 6. That adequate notification has been given and the
opportunity provided for public input and that published notices have
identified affected flood plains and /or wetlands, if applicable.
