RESOLUTION NO. 7S a
A RESOLUTION OF THE EDMONDS CITY COUNCIL
SUPPORTING EDMONDS SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 15 IN THEIR MISSION TO
IMPLEMENT THE GOALS OF AMERICA 2000
WHEREAS, The EDMONDS CITY COUNCIL recognizes and supports the Goals of
America 2000 which is the broad umbrella program initiated as a
result of the National Goals for Education developed by President
Bush and the nation's governors; and
WHEREAS, The EDMONDS CITY COUNCIL supports the Edmonds School District in
their decision to implement the Goals of America 2000 which
consist of six national goals for education by the year 2000.
These goals include an increase in the high school graduation rate
to at least 90 percent by the year 2000; and that every adult
American will be literate and will possess the knowledge and
skills necessary to compete in a global economy and exercise the
rights and responsibilities of citizenship; and
WHEREAS, The EDMONDS CITY COUNCIL recognizes and supports the Edmonds
School District in their numerous activities designed to establish
and create world class schools which will address current and
future student learning needs through collaboration with school
staff, parents, business, and community members;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the EDMONDS CITY COUNCIL that Edmonds
School District No. 15 be supported in their efforts to implement
the Goals of American 2000.
