RESOLUTION NO. 724
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING TRANSFER
OF $2,027 FROM THE CENTENNIAL FUND #625 TO THE
MUNICIPAL ARTS FUND #117 IN ORDER TO PROVIDE
FOR FUNDING FROM PRIVATE DONATIONS FOR A GIFT
OF PUBLIC ART TO THE SISTER CITY OF HEKINAN
JAPAN.
WHEREAS, the City has received numerous public gifts for
the purpose of funding various public and private events in
conjunction with the Edmonds centennial; and
WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds is prohibited from making
gifts of or with public funds; and
WHEREAS, as a part of the Edmonds centennial, gifts of
public art were exchanged from the City of Hekinan to the City of
Edmonds and from the citizens of the City of Edmonds to the
citizens and City of Hekinan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds such gifts to be
inappropriate public expenditure but an appropriate expenditure of
private gifts and contributions retained in the Edmonds Centennial
Fund; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The sum of $2,027 is hereby transferred from
the Centennial Fund #625 to the Municipal Arts Fund #117 and is

hereby appropriated for the purchase of gifts of public art from
previously donated private funds.
