RESOLUTION NO. 622
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING APPLICA-
TION TO THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF
NATURAL RESOURCES, MARINE LAND MANAGEMENT
DIVISION AND THE INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR
OUTDOOR RECREATION FOR TWO GRANTS OF $75,000.
FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF BEACH ACCESS ADJACENT
TO BRACKETS LANDING BEACH AND TO MOVE AN
EXISTING ROCK JETTY APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET
TO THE NORTH
WHEREAS, the State of Washington through the Department of
Natural Resources Marine Land Management Division provides for a
local grant program for aquatic land enhancement, and
WHEREAS, the Brackets Landing beach is a significant asset
to the City of Edmonds and its public parks providing access to
the tidelands of Puget Sound in a controlled environmental
setting, and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it appropriate to make two
applications to the Department of Natural Resources Marine Land
Management Division for two separate projects to enhance the
protection and public use of Bracket's Landing beach as a natural
resource.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The mayor or his designee is hereby authorized
to make application to the Washington State Department of Natural
Resources, Marine Land Division through the Interagency Committee
for Outdoor Recreation for:
.
1. A $75,000. grant for the
beach access adjacent to the
Department of Transportation
provisions for the expansion
attendant thereto, and
2. A $75,000. grant for the
existing rock jetty aproxima
development of expanded
Washington State
Ferry Terminal, including
of paths and parking areas
costs of moving an
tely 100 feet north.
Section 2. The mayor or his designee is further authorized
to take any and all steps necessary to affectuate this grant
application and to report to the Council regarding the final
nature of the project to give periodic progress reports regarding
the said grant applications and to advise the Council regarding
any amendment to said grant applications whether required by the
State of Washington through its administration of the grants
program or originated by the City of Edmonds.
