RESOLUTION NO. 632
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING AND
DIRECTING ESTABLISHMENT OF A YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP
FUND AND PROVIDING FOR THE EXPENDITURE OF THE
PROCEEDS.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the best
interests of the public health, safety and welfare to provide
subsidies to the Youth of Edmonds in order that all youth,
regardless of financial background, may attend the recreational,
cultural and educational programs of the City's Parks and
Recreation Department, and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to establish a fund to
hold contributions from charitable and other private donors and
to expend these funds to provide subsidies to the recreational,
cultural and educational programs of the City without the
restrictions inherent in the expenditure of public tax monies,
NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Administrative Services' Director is
instructed to set aside a fund to receive private contributions
and to hold such funds solely to provide subsidies to the youth
of Edmonds to attend the various recreational, cultural and
educational activities of the City at a reduced cost or no cost
to the participant.

Section 2. Said fund shall receive such funds from
private charitable donations. The acceptance of funds shall not
be interpreted as the sponsorship of the City nor as any approval
or recommendation of any specific event, promotion or activity.
Such private donations enhance the life of the City and its
citizens, and the City Council hereby expresses its appreciation
for such donations.
