RESOLUTION NO. 583
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, PRESCRIBING THE MILEAGE
REIMBURSEMENT RATE TO CITY EMPLOYEES FOR USE OF
PERSONAL AUTOMOBILES FOR CITY BUSINESS.
WHEREAS, RCW 42.24.090 authorizes the reimbursement of
City employees for travel expenses and provides that the City
Council may prescribe by resolution the amounts which shall be
paid to City employees as reimbursement for.the use of their
personal automobiles in connection with officially assigned
duties and other travel for approved public purposes; and
WHEREAS, Section 2.25.090 of the Edmonds City Code
likewise authorizes the establishment by resolution of a rate
of reimbursement based on mileage for the use by City employ-
ees of personal automobiles in connection with City business;
now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The reimbursement rate for the use of
personal automobiles or other transportation equipment in
connection with officially assigned duties and other travel
for public purposes approved by the Mayor shall be an amount
per mile that is equal to the current rate per mile allowed by
the Internal Revenue Service as a deduction for the purposes
of computing tax on income.

Section 2. The City of Edmonds mileage reimbursement
rate shall be adjusted to remain equal to the Internal Revenue
Service maximum mileage expense rate and such adjustment shall
be effective upon the date any such new rate is published by
the Internal Revenue Service in the federal register.
Section 3. The Finance Director is instructed to
monitor the rate set by the Internal Revenue Service for
mileage expense deduction and adjust the City's mileage
reimbursement rate accordingly.
Section 4. This resolution shall apply to reimburse
all mileage incurred by the employee on or after March 20,
1984.
