RESOLUTION NO. 574
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, PETITIONING THE SNO-
HOMISH COUNTY COUNCIL TO ESTABLISH A MUNICI-
PAL DEPARTMENT OF THE SOUTH DISTRICT JUSTICE
COURT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Pursuant to RCW 3.46.040, the City Coun-
cif petitions the Snohomish County Council to establish a Mun-
icipal Department of the South District Justice Court for the
City of Edmonds.
Section 2. The Municipal Department of the City of
Edmonds would require one part -time judge. The Council esti-
mates that such judge would be required to spend 50 percent of
his or her time for the Edmonds Municipal Department.
Section 3. In the event the City of Lynnwood or any
other South County city files a petition to create a joint Mun-
icipal Department with the City of Edmonds, then this petition
shall be considered for a joint Municipal Department with such
city or cities. Such Municipal Department would require at
least one full -time judge.
Section 4. Pursuant to RCW 3.46.040, the City Coun-
cil reserves its right to withdraw this petition at any time
prior to adoption of the districting plan by the County Coun-
cil.
Section 5. The City Clerk shall forthwith file a
certified copy of this resolution with the Snohomish County
Council.
