RESOLUTION NO. 529
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, SETTING FORTH
THE COUNCIL'S INTENTIONS IN THE EVENT A
MAJORITY OF THE VOTERS ARE IN FAVOR OF A
FULL TIME MAYOR PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION
NO. 526.
WHEREAS, the City Council passed Resolution No. 526
on May 25, 1982 calling for a special election to be held in
conjunction with the general election on November 2, 1982
placing before the voters the question of whether or not, on
and after January 1, 1984, the Office of Mayor should be made
full time and the mayor be compensated on a full -time basis,
and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the voters
of the City of Edmonds should have full information concern-
ing the Council's intentions in this regard so that the
voters may be able to vote accordingly, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
In the event a majority of the voters at the
November 2, 1982 general election are in favor of the advi-
sory ballot proposition regarding the full -time mayor posi-
tion, the Council would intend to take the following steps:
1. The Council would enact an appropriate ordinance, to be
effective on and after January 1, 1984 requiring the
mayor to serve full time in the Office of Mayor and not

hold any other employment which would conflict with the
performance of his or her duties.
2. The Council would enact an appropriate ordinance provid-
ing for compensation for the mayor at approximately
$35,000 to $40,000 per year, beginning January 1, 1984.
3. The Council would enact an ordinance repealing the posi-
tion of Mayor's Administrative Assistant, effective
December 31, 1983.
4. The Council would enact an ordinance limiting a person
from serving as mayor of the City of Edmonds to two
consecutive four year terms, and to apply to persons
serving in the office on and after January 1, _1984.
