RESOLUTION NO. 457
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, STATING THE COUNCIL'S POLICY
ON REQUIRING PAYMENT FROM PROPERTY OWNERS ABUTTING
CITY STREETS WHICH ARE TO BE VACATED.
WHEREAS, RCW.35.79.030 authorizes the City Council to
require property owners abutting upon each side of streets or
alleys which are to be vacated to compensate the City in an
amount not to exceed one -half the appraised value of the area to
be vacated, and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to inform the public
of its general policy in this regard, and
WHEREAS, the Council recognizes that individual cases
may require a different policy and that therefore the policy con-
tained in this Resolution can and should be modified in certain
cases, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. It shall be the general policy of the City
Council to require property owners abutting on each side of a
street or alley which is to be vacated to compensate the City in
an amount not exceeding one -half the appraised value of the area
so vacated, unless such property owner dedicated the abutting
portion of vacated street or alley to the City without charge.
Section 2. The general policy contained in this Reso-

lution may be modified by the Council depending on the circum=
stances at the time such'street or alley is vacated.
