A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
STATING THE INTENT OF THE CITY TO WITHDRAW FROM
THE FEDERAL SOCIAL SECURITY FOR PUBLIC EMPLOYEES
PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF RCW CHAPTER 41.48
AT THE END OF THE CALENDAR QUARTER ENDING
JUNE 30, 1977.
WHEREAS, at the request of a number of employees of
the City, the City Council has decided to review its further
participation in Federal Social Security for Public Employees,
and,
WHEREAS, in the event it is found by the City Council of
the City of Edmonds that an alternative program through private
or other sources is available, and will provide equal to or better
benefits that are presently provided by Federal Social Security
for Public Employees,
WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW Chapter 41.48 in order for the
City to withdraw from participation in the Federal Social
Security for Public Employees and to withdraw its employees from
such program, it is necessary to give at least two years advance
notice in writing to the Governor, and
WHEREAS, in order to facilitate an orderly and prompt withdrawal
from Federal Social Security for Public Employees in the event it
is found by the City Council that a better alternative program may
be made available for its employees through other sources:,: now,
therefore,
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDMONDS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Edmonds, Washing-
ton, hereby states its intent to the Governor of the State of
Washington, the Honorable Daniel J. Evans, to terminate and withdraw
on behalf of itself and its employees, from further participation

in Federal Social Security for Public Employees, as of the
end of the calendar quarter ending June 30, 1977, and to enroll
its employees and participate in such other plan as shall be
adopted by the City on or before said termination date that is
equal to or better than Federal Social Security for Public
Employees. That the intent and purpose of this resolution is
to constitute written notice of the intent of the City to terminate
its participation in Federal Social Security for Public Employees,
pursuant to RCW Chapter 41.48.
Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby instructed to cause to
be delivered forthwith certified copies of this resolution to
the office of the Honorable Daniel J. Evans, Governor of the
State of Washington, and to the Employment Security Department of
the State of Washington.
