A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
COMMENDING REVEREND DAVID J. STRAND FOR HIS
SERVICES TO SAID CITY AND THE CITIZENS THEREOF.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate and desirable that a community
award public recognition for outstanding public service rendered
by individual citizens, and
WHEREAS, said REVEREND DAVID J. STRAND has diligently
served the City of Edmonds, and the citizens thereof, as Chaplain
for the Edmonds Fire Department and as a Battalion Chief for the
Edmonds Fire Fighters Association from the period of June 1, 1972
through the end of October 1973, during which time said REVEREND
DAVID J. STRAND responded to over five hundred alarms for aid
car or fire vehicle and unselfishly gave of himself not only to
the citizens and residents of Edmonds during their times of
stress, but also provided members of the Edmonds Fire Department
and Edmonds Fire Fighters Association with guidance and comfort,
and
WHEREAS, said REVEREND DAVID J. STRAND has relocated his
residence out of the State of Washington, and
WHEREAS, during the time so spent serving the City of
Edmonds, said REVEREND DAVID J. STRAND has devoted himself
unselfishly and without financial remuneration to the spirit of
bettering the community which he has so painstakingly served, and
WHEREAS,.the -City Council of the City of Edmonds and the
officers and.employees of said city deem it only fitting that a
commendation-should be issued herewith for the time and effort so
spent by REVEREND DAVID J. STRAND and that said commendation
should be made a part.of the permanent records of said City of
Edmonds, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON, that REVEREND DAVID J. STRAND be hereby commended
for his unselfish dedication to the City of Edmonds and the
citizens thereof, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be
furnished to the said REVEREND DAVID J. STRAND and an additional
copy be entered in the permanent records of this City in order
that the citizens be forever aware of the high esteem and
respect in which REVEREND DAVID J. STRAND has been, is and will
be held forevermore.
RESOLVED by the City Council this 2nd day of January, 1974.
