Resolution 302RESOLUTION NO. 302 A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, • WASHINGTON, AND THE PORT OF EDMONDS EXPRESSING THE MUTUAL INTEREST OF SAID PUBLIC BODIES IN THE CONCEPT OF ESTABLISHING PUBLIC FISHING PIERS BY UTILIZATION OF EXISTING BREAKWATERS INSTALLED BY SAID PORT OF EDMONDS AND PRESENTLY IN EXISTENCE. WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds and the Port of Edmonds believe that a public fishing pier may benefit the Port'and the F! City with respect to multiple use.of public properties and in conjunction with the municipal park and recreation development, and, WHEREAS, a fishing pier will be of benefit to the youth, the elderly and non - boaters by providing a facility to enable said persons to fish in Puget Sound, and, WHEREAS, the pier is consistent with the zoning and land J113 use plans of the City of Edmonds with respect to recreation and water- oriented activities, and, WHEREAS, the proposed pier structure will provide a habitat and enhance the growth of marine life in the Puget Sound waters within the jurisdiction of said City and Port, and, WHEREAS, the proposed structure would take advantage of f existing Port breakwater structures providing a multiple use of • said structures and furthering the services of both public bodies to their citizens and constituents, now, therefore, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF EDMONDS AND THE PORT OF EDMONDS that said public bodies indicate their support of the concept for public fishing piers to the Washington State Department of Fisheries and the Inter- agency Commission for Outdoor Recreation } -1- / �I • • and the plan of said agencies to build and fund a public fishing pier on the perimeter of the north breakwater of the Port of Edmonds boat basin facility.
