RESOLUTION NO. 315
A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE COUNTY -WIDE PUBLIC
TRANSPORTATION MEASURE ON THE SEPTEMBER 17, 1974
PRIMARY BALLOT.
WHEREAS, the Association of Snohomish County Cities and Towns
is comprised of officials of Cities and Towns throughout the County which
have, along with other interested individuals and citizens groups,
participated in the development of the Snohomish County Public Transportation
Program during 1973 and 1974, and said Association on August 22, 1974 gave
its endorsement to the September 17, 1974 County -wide Public Transportation
Ballot Measure and encouraged similar action by all cities and towns in
the County; and
WHEREAS, by Substitute House Bill No. 670, the formation of the
Snohomish County Public Transportation Authority (SnoTran) was authorized
by the 1974 Legislature as the implementation agency for the County -wide
Public Transportation System, and the authority was thereafter formed by the
Snohomish County Board of Commissioners, and SnoTran has thereafter assumed
the implementation responsibility for the County -wide system; and
WHEREAS, SnoTran has placed on the September 17, 1974 primary ballot
the question of voter authorization of 3/10 of 1% of sales tax deducted
for the financial support of the County -wide Public Transportation System;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Edmonds does resolve:
a. The efforts of the individuals and agencies involved with
SnoMet, SnoTran, and the legislative delegation, are hereby
recognized, and appreciation is expressed therefore.
b, The desirability of the County -wide Public Transporation
System, to replace the present inadequate and minimal
level of public transportation services, and to complement
the other modes of transportation throughout the County,
with public transportation service at the level proposed
for implementation by 1980, is endorsed and supported by the City
Edmonds.

c. Voter approval of the 3/10 of 1% sales tax measure
as the only legally available and Practical County-
wide funding method to supplement fare box revenues
for the Public Transportation System is recommended,
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Edmonds this 3rd day
of September, 1974, and signed in authentication of its passage,,
