RESOLUTION NO. 283
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DECLARING THE NEED
-� FOR A MORATORIUM ON THE GRANTING OF VARIATION
FROM PARKING REQUIREMENTS IN THE DOWNTOWN
BUSINESS AREA PENDING COMPLETION OF A STUDY
OF THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED THEREWITH.
WHEREAS, there has been a sudden and rapid influx of
businesses into the downtown commercial area of the City
of Edmonds, Washington, and
WHEREAS, said sudden increase in the number of
businesses in the limited area provided therefor has brought
to light the need for a study of the parking needs of said
business area and methods of planning for further expansion
and resolving of the present problems associated therewith,
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds has
previously instructed the members of the city staff to
commence a study of the problem of off-street parking within
said business area with respect to space needs, present and
future, methods of providing necessary parking and related
matters, and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest, health, welfare
and safety that adequate space for off-street parking in the
business area be provided and preserved, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS:
The City Council of the City of Edmonds hereby finds
and declares a need to establish a moratorium on the granting
of variations from present off-street parking requirements
pending the completion of the study of the off-street
parking in the downtown business area as previously directed
by said City Council, and that the members of the Board of
Adjustment of the City of Edmonds, Washington be apprised
of the problem and the desires and wishes of the council
that no further variations from off --street parking require-
ments be granted pending completion of said study.
That the City Planner be directed to transmit a copy
of this resolution to each duly appointed member of the
City of Edmonds Board of Adjustment.
