RESOLUTION NO." 289
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING APPLICATION BY
SAID CITY FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE FROM THE STATE
OF WASHINGTON INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR
RECREATION AS PROVIDED BY THE MARINE RECREATION
LAND ACT.
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Edmonds, Washington,
has approved a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban
area which identifies two existing neighborhood parks in the
northern part of the city as having high development priority; and
WHEREAS, under the provision of the Marine Recreation Land
Act, state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and
made available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and
the construction of outdoor recreational facilities of local public
bodies; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds, considers
it in the public interest to.develop these two neighborhood parks
in the northern portion of said City,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS:
1) That the mayor be authorized to make formal
application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation for funding assistance;
2) That any funding assistance so received be
used in the development of two parks comprising
approximately ten and one-half acres of land in the
northern part of the City of Edmonds, Washington,
commonly known as Seaview Park and Sierra Park;
3) That any property so developed with financial
aid through the Interagency Committee for Outdoor.
Recreation be placed in use as an outdoor recreation
facility and be retained in such use in perpetuity
unless otherwise provided and agreed to by the City
Council, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation and any affected federal agency; a
4) That this resolution become a part of a formal
application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation.
