PROCLAMATION — MUSI —:4LI 18 • Pro Tem Nelson read a proclamation proclaiming May 2018 as Music4Life Month in the City of Edmonds and encouraging all citizens to donate any lovingly used musical instruments they may have to W1AM.Musiq41L1ifh,'oru and • what financial support they can to this fine home-grown organization. • Pro Tern Nelson presented the proclamation to Ken Noreen. Mr. Noreen said he and Mayor Earling have shared the directorship of the Shoreline Community College concert band; Mayor Earling is an utsta-f4in trUMDCt Qla%er, friend and suDDorter of Music4Life. Mr. Noreen recentiv retired after 54 years off i WS Edmonds School District. He thanked the Council for recognizing this project and for making the public aware of the need for instruments. He assured they accept any instrument, citing a recent donation of z grand piano. Mayor Pro Tern Nelson commented a child should be free to buy a Happy Meal without being attack I because of their race or the language they speak. When the City Council passed the Safe City resoluti last year, it promised to uphold the rights and freedoms • all families and individuals the Coun represents. The resolution also committed to ensure programs and services are accessible to all. Currenti City services are only offered in one language. Today he directed Council staff to look into a new policy. a HARK soon the City will be able to speak to them in their language to better serve them.
